In the frame of the TeSLA project, e-assessment methodologies will be put into a new framework to enable continuous and final assessment of students in a variety of educational settings. In order to ensure compatibility of the newly developed e-assessment system with external requirements for higher education, in particular higher education degree programes, external quality assurance agencies such as EQANIE, ENQA or AQU and networks of such agencies have been included in the project consortium to provide guidance to the other partners in this regard.
Their purpose is providing the partners with guidance for the project implementation and beyond with regard to the e-assessment methodology in use that will later on be subject to the external quality assurance of the educational offers and/or providers according to the respective and relevant national external quality assurance.
Technology-related quality standards for e-assessment
A set of quality standards and indicators focusing on the technological point of view has been designed to support educational institutions in the design of e-assessment as well as for the (continuous) quality assurance and enhancement of e-assessment.
The standards and indicators can be used by the project partners in preparation of and during the implementation of the pilots in order to verify whether the new TeSLA system meets the technological-quality expectations.
The technological aspects will form part of the quality assurance framework for e-assessment which will be developed in the course of the project. The pilots will provide feedback on the accuracy, applicability and effectiveness of the standards.
The standards focus on the areas of:
1) student assessment, referring to all methods of assessing to which extent the learning outcomes have been reached, including formative and summative assessment methods.
2) system capacity, referring to the elements which determine the development and implementation of the e-assessment from the technological point of view.
3) E-Assessment as part of quality management, referring to all strategies and instruments which an institution implements to ensure the constant achievement of its objectives and the functioning of its processes.
